For the last two weeks, my students have been working hard on their mock trials. We use them to learn about thesis development, textual interpretation, organization, oral presentation skills, collaborative group work, and the exact decibel tolerance of the teacher next door. One case focuses on a mad scientist accused of creating a zombie apocalypse, while the other centers on a sci-fi space Captain accused of firing on alien dignitaries during peacetime. Today we had 2 acquittals and 2 convictions - the rest of the cases go to trial tomorrow.
The photo above was taken by a student in my Mock Trial club. I was trying to look stern. I wore my graduation robes as the judge and a student was kind enough to lend me a gavel.
